Wines
Origen & Lunático
It all starts in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, between 900 and 1,100 metres. Stony and sandy soils, clay with gravel, a wide day-to-night temperature swing and snowmelt water: the area where Argentine Malbec made its name. This is where the wine that carries Carlos Gardel's signature comes from.
The Origen line is for every day. The Malbec, fresh and fruity, with three months in barrel. The Cabernet Sauvignon, firm in structure with a long finish. The Torrontés, floral and aromatic, no oak, served cold. Between 13 and 13.5 % alcohol, made for the table and not for the display cabinet.
Lunático is the other end. A Gran Reserva Malbec 2023 at 14.3 %, barrel-aged and a limited edition, named after the horse Gardel bought in 1925 at the Tattersall in Palermo. One opens today; the other waits.
